The Holy Rosary

Is the Rosary a Liturgical Prayer?

While the Rosary is not a liturgical prayer in the strict sense, it is nonetheless approved over and over again as well as recommended highly by the Church which has given it many indulgences. Anyone who says that the prayers of the rosary are tedious and spiritless simply has not prayed it thoughtfully or he has little love for prayer. The rosary honors Christ and His Mother. Its prayers have their origin, directly or indirectly, in heaven. Christ Himself taught us the Our Father; the Angel Gabriel and Elizabeth gave us the Hail Mary. If we say these prayers devoutly, reflecting at the same time on the mysteries of our redemption presented before each decade, we will surely not deviate from the spirit of the liturgy.
