PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou O prince of the heavenly host by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

 AMEN

St. Michael's Academy
was established in 1976 to help students pursue educational excellence and equip them to take their place in society as accomplished men and women, capable of effectively bearing witness to the Holy Catholic Faith.

"He that shall receive one such little child in My name, receiveth Me.  But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in Me, it were better for him that a mill stone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea.
Matthew 18:10

For over 30 years St. Michael’s Academy has helped parents to form and educate their little ones in the Way of the Lord.   The Academy works to educate students to be productive citizens of this world and most importantly to help them to be the saints God made them to be in order to be joyful citizens of heaven.

One of the essential ingredients in this work is safeguarding the baptismal innocence of our students. Over the years we have succeeded in this by teaching our students the beautiful truths of our Holy Catholic Faith while never subjecting them to classroom sex education or any other “politically correct” curriculum which would compromise their innocence.

There is much talk today about safeguarding our children in the wake of the tragic clerical scandals that caused great harm to the Church.  Unfortunately the solution to this problem has been to make children the “watchdogs” who are to determine “safe” and “unsafe” touch.  I refer to the recent “safe environment” programs “Virtus” and “Talking About Touching,” with contain explicit descriptions of deviant sexual behavior.  Programs such as these are being mandated by the Charter for Protection of Children and Young People as published by the the USCCB.  These and other programs of this nature do not solve the problem, but put our children’s virtue and innocence at risk. Our job as educators and parents is to lift the minds and souls of our children up to what is good, true, and beautiful.  We have Saint Paul's command in this regard to guide us:

"Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever modest, whatsoever just, whatsoever holy, whatsoever lovely, whatsoever good, if there be any virtue, if it praises discipline, THINK ON THESE THINGS."

We applaud Bishop Bruskewitz from the Diocese of Lincoln as a vigilant protector of children’s baptismal innocence. We see no need for implementation of any safe environment program. SMA does not teach the afore mentioned “safe environment” classes or sex education. We believe that academic coursework and Catholic life, combined with a high level of parental involvement in the home, will themselves create a well-formed conscience with regard to these concerns.

When you send your child to St. Michael's Academy, you become part of our family.   As a member of a family, each person treats one another with the utmost charity at all times.  Charity means practicing kindness and patience in all circumstances. Since 1976, the families and faculty of St. Michael's Academy have come together not only to educate for life, but for eternal life.  Charity is the abiding principle of unity.  For 30 years, SMA has known the key element to academic and spiritual success: unity of home and school.

The objective of St. Michael's Academy is to be an extension of the Catholic Home. The Catholic Church teaches that the school should be an extension of the Catholic home.  Since parents are the primary educators of their children, parents and educators must work in harmony for the well-being of the child.

Our Pledge to Parents:
SMA promises that we will do all in our power to be an extension of the Catholic home.  Therefore the message and trappings of the culture of death in music, entertainment, games, objects, styles of dress, etc. which reflect paganism, secularism, godless humanism, sensuality, or anything that can reasonably be considered a near occasion of sin are excluded.  We are committed to helping children preserve their baptismal innocence.

Home prepares children for eternity.  School must be an extension of this home mission. If the two work together, the child has the best possible chance to succeed in reaching eternal life.

The Biblical standard for Catholic Classroom and Home includes what is:
True  -  Modest  -  Lovely  -  Virtuous  -  Just   -   Holy  -  Good - In praise of discipline

St. Michael’s Academy will continue to do everything in our power to enable children to someday return to Our Lord pure and “clean of heart.”
